Hi,

If that has happened, most likely it is a head gasket issue allowing engine oil to enter the cooling system Is there any coolant mixing in the engine oil?

Here is a link that explains how to check for a bad head gasket. Take a look through it and see if anything seems to mirror what you are experiencing.

Let me know.

It is also possible it is an oil cooler failure. If that is the 2.2 diesel then it is very likely. It is an oil to water cooler and part of the oil filter stand if I remember correctly.
The big question is, is there any coolant in the oil? If it is clean then you may be able to replace the cooler and flush the cooling system and be okay. If the coolant did get into the oil, it becomes a different issue. Coolant and engine bearings do not work well together, however if it just started and you caught it fast and there isn't a lot of coolant in the oil, you may be able to do a similar treatment there as well. Very hard to tell without testing the oil and seeing what is there.
