Oil low warning light?

Yes you can add 5W-30 as a top-off if it is a VW-approved oil, and that is a lot safer than driving with the oil extremely low. But I need to ask have you changed the oil and filter yet with 40k on it? This engine should not have a low oil condition between changes. Do you see smoke at the rear of the car at night when accelerating? This can mean there is a oil consumption problem. If you have not serviced the engine do it now. :) Please let us know what happens. Ken
