Oil light came on, went to turn and the engine shut off and will not restart

I am worried that the engine locked up. When you try to start the engine does it turn over and just not start or does it just click or not even do anything when you turn the key?

I am worried that the engine is not starting now due to the low oil pressure has damaged the engine. However, it may just be preventing the start to protect it so we need to know what codes are there and if it will even turn over. Let's start with this and go from there. Thanks
