oil filter cap

I am having trouble taking off my oil filter cap. i have the special tool that fits on the filter cap but cannot loosen it.

see picture for which way to turn it. if it is plastic it may break and you will need another. you may be trying to get off the wrong way. also, try tapping with a hammer on top surface lightly it may break what ever is loose so it will come off.
