I had a major oil leak fixed in my 99 sebring. I had a timing belt kit,cam seal, crank seal, oil pan gasket, and pcv valve replaced. My mechanic did a great job and also told me that the engine does also burn oil and he thinks that the next step would be a new engine. I have noticed that it seems to burn a quart every 750 to 1000 miles. There are no more leaks and it does not smoke at all. I tried Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer and it still burns oil. Are there any suggestions on what I could do to preserve the life of the engine? I love this car!

keep the oil clean and up to level until you decide what direction to take this repair

Thanks! I definately can't afford a new engine at this time. Will any other additives help? Or should I switch to synthetic oil?
