It sounds like you have an ABS wheel speed sensor that has gone out.

Here is a video to show you how to get the codes and sewe which one is bad. If you do not have a scanner you can manually check the sensor by following this guide.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/abs-wheel-speed-sensor-test

and if bad here is a guide that will give you an idea on what you are in for when changing the sensor out.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-an-abs-wheel-speed-sensor

Here is what it will be like on your car (below).

Please let us know what you find. I'm interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

have a mechanic scan for codes for ABS lights. check tire pressure in all your tires that light may go out. if not it may be a tire sensor bad which will have to be replaced.

it could be a sensor on both wheels or rust on a sensor as they are magnetic but a mechanic will need to reset the computer with his scanner. it could be something else however so that is best left for a mechanic to check. Also, if you have traction control that will be knocked out as well until it is fixed.

I hear a loud rhythmic knocking noise when braking, sounds like it is coming from the right rear. No vibration, or feeling in the pedal, vehicle seems to stop normally, just the noise. And it mainly occurs when the road is wet or perhaps for a day or two after rain. After several dry days, no noise. I am wondering whether it could possibly be something to do with the ABS system/sensors. ABS light on the dash, and when I slam on the brakes in the rain the ABS appears to function properly.

Hot spot in rotor from overheating the brakes. The rotor would have to be replaced.
