Occasionally the start button does not work

Last time it was because I left the gas lid open. Otherwise, if I allow a few minutes between attempts, it works. Further, I have a digital readout that the key can't be found. So, I open the door and insert the key into the keyhole and nothing happens.

I don't have technical information on this vehicle, but I will try to help. If it doesn't recognize that the key is present, it won't start. Do you have a spare key that you could try?
