OBD-II has power, but the code reader cannot pull codes?

The Check Engine light is on in my son's car listed above. I have connected the code reader to the OBD-II port, and it has power, but no codes populate on the reader.

The error says "Communication Error. Unable to establish communication. Verify the connection at the DLC and that the ignition is in the ON position. Press to re-link".

The code reader works on all other vehicles we have, so that is not it. Do we need to replace the OBD-II port, check fuses, etc.? If replacing the port is necessary, how do I go about that?

Yep, let's check the fuses to see if any are blown, with the key/system on check for power at the fuse #f20 in the fuse panel by the left side of the dash. This guide will help:

No fuses are blown. Checked with Voltimeter. Reset the ECM as well. Still will not communicate.

Is there voltage at the fuse? You may have a smart junction box that has gone out.
