Obd 2 port?

I recently bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Laramie Pickup 4D 6 1/4 ft 4.7 magnum and there is a device plugged in to the OBD 2 port. The wire is fed up to the driver side grab handle & has the female end of an HDMI plug. I unplugged the device from the OBD2 port and plugged in my diagnostic tool and it does not power on when I turn the key in the on position. Please help

That looks like it went to some kind of tuner. Check for 12 volts on terminal # 16 in the diagnostic link connector. If that is missing, fuse # 51, a 20-amp, is likely blown, but that one also feeds the under-hood lamp and the radio. If those things work, the fuse is okay.

If you have 12 volts in the diagnostic link connector, most likely your code reader is too new. It has to work with the OBD2 system you mentioned. The first Chrysler models to switch to the newer CAN BUSS system were the Dakota and Durango for 2004 models. A few Jeep models used the old system up to 2008. All the other models switched over between those years.
