Friends Honda check engine light came on. I attached my ob2 scanner and it gave me a linking error. I attached my simple scanner to see if it’ll power the scanner and it did. So I know I’m getting 12v to the scanner. I also replaced fuse number 23 (10A) in the engine fuse box and still getting the same linking error. I tested both my scanners on different cars and they both work fine. Not sure how else to fix the ob2 port.

I would check the connector for corrosion which will hinder the connection, next there are two grounds for the connector. here is a guide to help you check them and the data port connector wiring diagrams which I have marked the wires to be tested.

Also, this video might help as well:

I saw that video and that’s what made me add this question in the forum. Is there a location for the 2p CEL connector so I can at least get some codes as to why the check engine light is on?

Did you check the grounds I pointed out in the wiring diagrams? Also, going over the PCM wiring diagrams I do not see a I do not see a 2p CEL connector on this car.
