O2 sensor adapter

You are trying to fool the PCM for the 420 code?

If you are, it will not work. That is a myth from the internet which does not work in real life.

The simple answer is no, it will not harm anything by using the oil fouler.

I just bought the car and replaced the o2 sensor and it already had an adapter. So I am not sure why it had one in the first place.

Someone was trying to do something there. Whatever it was will not work.

Remove the adapter and just install the sensor back into the pipe.

Is the check engine light on?

I was getting a P0171 code a week ago.

That is a lean code.

Whenever my gas tank get about 1/3 empty the car jerks a lot and shuts off. Would that be something with the fuel pump?

Yes it could.There is a pick up in the tank with a hose. If the hose is cracked, it will suck air instead of fuel when it gets uncovered.

I would remove the fuel pump and inspect for any damage or leak from the pump assembly.

1. Relieve the fuel pressure.
2. Remove the fuel fill cap.
3. Remove the seat cushion.

4. Remove the access panel (A) from the floor.
5. Disconnect the fuel pump 5P connector (B).
6. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting (C) from the fuel tank unit.

The car has a idle of 100 to 200 rpm. I am not sure the cause. There is no check engine light.

You said you had a code 171? Has this changed?

The low idle may be from a dirty throttle body.

I would try cleaning the throttle body first.
