Not sure if being ripped off

Took my truck in because it would not start. They were to put the diagnostics on. They then said it was my battery and that it needs a tune up. When i went to pick it up they then said that five of my eight spark plug coils broke when they were taking them out. They were to fix it. The next day i went to start it and it would not start. This is after they supposedly fixed it. They now have it again and are now saying its my fuel pump. Was there any reason they needed to touch the spark plug coils?

I believe they were referring to "ignition" coils. They would have had to remove these to replace the plugs. They are plastic on top with a rubber boot stuck to the plug. If they had not been removed in a long time they may have been stuck to the plug, but a little care usually gets them out with no damage.

But is taking them out part of a normal tune up?

Yes, it is. As i stated, they have to be removed to access the spark plugs.

I know it's tough to take but sometime repairs are back to back or the problem wasn't acting up when it was first at the shop.
