Noise when changing gear

I recently noticed a clunking noise when changing gear. It seems to be getting worse and now there is a vibration while taking of in low gear. I am assuming it is the gearbox on its way out, but would like a second opinion. And if it is what sort of cost am I looking at to have a reconditioned gearbox bought and fitted.
