Hello,

About two weeks ago, the front pads and rotors were changed on the vehicle. I'm starting to hear a scraping sound from both front wheels. Sounds like something scraping against the rotors.

Any idea what this might be? I will call the mechanic on 7/19 to schedule an appointment.

Thanks,

Roosevelt.

Hi,

Does the sound change when you apply the brakes or are the sounds only apparent when you use the brakes?

Also, check the dust shield (backing plate) behind the brake rotors and make sure they aren't touching the brake rotors. Also, if the sound is loud enough to record, record it and upload it for me to hear.

Let me know.

Hello Joe,

At first, I would hear the "scraping" sound when turning, now I hear it all the time when driving forward. I figured it might be a backing plate or something like that. I will have to record it tomorrow if I can.

Thanks,

Roosevelt.

Hi,

That is my first guess. If you are in an area where rust is a concern, I've seen them fall apart with rust.

Also, inspect the hardware that was installed. Make sure nothing is touching there as well. If they aren't installed correctly, they will touch the brake rotor.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Hello,

Sorry, I forgot to give an update. The hardware on the vehicle was rubbing against the rotors. The mechanic adjusted it, and everything is fine now. And, they did not charge me to do this.

Good shop to be a customer for.

Thanks for your help.
