No start, no spark and code P0505

Hello,

This sounds to me like your vehicle's Power-train Control Module [PCM] or "computer" has an internal short in it. In the diagrams down below I have included your vehicle's electrical schematic and wiring diagrams for ignition and engine performance for you in the diagrams down below. Please go through these and get back to us with what you find out. We have instructions for the removal and installation of your vehicle's PCM if you would like them. Let us know.

Once ignition is turned on, all relays start clicking and power light on dash goes on and off repeatedly. Car cranks but does not start. There is no spark. If you scan the car, once the engine diagnostics begin, all the relays start clicking again and the power light goes out and back on repeatedly so the tool loses connection to the car. I managed a complete scan and all I got was a P0505 which should not stop the car from starting.

Just to add, I would go through and check all the ECM powers and grounds right at the back of the computer by back probing the pins (carefully) with a multi-meter. And do this with the ignition switch in the run position so that the circuits are loaded. Problems can be missed if the circuits are not turned on.

I got a replacement ECU today and the vehicle started right up.
