No start no crank/will not show shifter indicator?

My car listed above doesn't start or crank, the shifter indicator does not show PRNDL. It has done this before and soon as the shifter indicator displays the car is in drive it starts right up. It did this when the battery got low from the alternator not working and I was trying to start the car.

Hi,

If the gear indicator is not working, the PCM/TCM doesn't know what gear the transmission is in. So, it won't do anything.

First, have you checked the condition of the battery? Is it fully charged? Do other electrical components function properly?
