No-start condition, code p1320

Welcome to 2CarPros.

It sounds like the coil has failed. I am going to provide the diagnostics for this code. You may end up replacing the distributor. The attached pics correlate with the directions.

Component Inspection

IGNITION COIL
1. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.
2. Check resistance as shown in the figure.

POWER TRANSISTOR
1. Disconnect camshaft position sensor & power transistor harness connector and ignition coil harness connector.
2. Check power transistor resistance between terminals 2 and 8.
If NG, replace distributor assembly.

RESISTOR
1. Disconnect resistor harness connector.
2. Check resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Resistance: Approximately 2.2 kohms [at 25° C (77° F)]
If NG, replace resistor.

I am not sure which pictures are which. because in the email it says picture 1 and then there is no picture and then picture 2 and there is no picture but at the bottom of the email there are two rows of pictures. so I am not sure which ones are the right ones to test properly, but the information should be helpful if I knew which ones were which and the one picture is showing something towards the firewall. I am not finding that and what is the name of each thing in the picture.

I'll try to explain. There should be two connections at the distributor. One will be a 6 pin connector and one a 2 pin connector.

The first test is for checking the coil. Picture one shows the pin orientation of the 2 pin connector and how it is checked for resistance.

Additionally, picture 2 is showing a test for continuity between the coil and the plug.

The power transistor test is shown in picture 3.

The resistor test is picture 4. That is the one near the firewall. It should be a white wire with a black tracer, and a black wire.

I am not exactly sure if I'm testing it the right way yet. I believe I am and I believe the distributor test are good and I found what I think is the resistor on the main harness going towards the firewall.I discovered that. I do not have injector pulse as well as no spark

Now that you mentioned there is no injector pulse, I suspect the camshaft sensor is bad. Take a look at picture 1. It lists possible causes for the code you have.

If the cam sensor fails, you will lose injector pulse. The bad thing is the distributor needs replaced because the sensor is integral.

If you can find a used one to test, I would switch out the distributor and see if that fixes the issue.

- Install distributor by aligning mark on shaft with protruding mark on housing.

- After installing, confirm that distributor rotor head is set as shown (see image).
