Replaced drive belt tensioner. When I started and drove the car everything was fine. I drove and it sounded great. Got home and parked it and went inside for a bit. Came back out to drive car and wouldn't start. Just spun over. Figured it was low on gas and the driveway was angled so I put a couple gallons in. Still no start. Fuel pump not coming on with the key but I straight wire it just to test and it's good. Didn't attempt to start it straight wired. But still no start.

It sounds like the timing belt went bad. Does the engine sound funny while cranking over? If there is no engine vacuum the MAF sensor is not triggered and will not turn the fuel pump on. I would go over this video to check the easy stuff and then get back to me so I can help.

I need more information to help you. Also, if you upload a short video of the engine cranking over, I can tell if the timing belt is good or not. Please go over this guide and get back to us.

Would the ignition switch go out cause the pump to not come on? I'm pretty sure it's not a timing issue. How do I test the fuel pump relay on this 06 VW beetle? It's got like 6 pins. And would the anti-theft cause the pump to not come on? It was running fine and I shut it off the wouldn't start back up. I'll post a video of it cranking when I get home if the weather permits.

Also the obd port is not registering. I ran it 1 time and pulled some codes and when I hooked it up again it wouldn't read. Would that have anything to do with it?

Yes and yes, I would start by checking the fuses. This guide can help, also is the security light flashing when you try to crank the engine over? To check the relay, I have included a guide for it as well.

and

I would concentrate on getting the scanner to work, if the engine computer is down then the fuel pump will not run. Please go over these guides and get back to us.

Well I got it running. All the fuses were good except 1. 20 Amp fuse was for the convertible top believe, was blown I got a new fuel relay and replaced the fuse, and it started u0p and immediately shut off. The fuse blew again. Changed it and same results. So, I put a jumper wire in it, and it stays running. Wire schematics would be appreciated so I can run down the short.

The convertible top does not have a 20-amp fuse FYI. There are 20-amp fuses for the engine though can you tell me which number of the fuse that blows? It looks like the 20 amp fuse goes to the ignition coils, it sounds like one is shorted out. You can try testing them, but it might not show the one that is bad. This is why shops change all of them when there is a problem. This guide can help:
