Van runs fine for about an hour then no spark. after a few hours starts right up and runs about an hour again. Endless cycle.

This sounds like a crank sensor issue. Here is a guide that walks through the symptoms of a cranks sensor issue. Pay particular attention to its intermittent operation when it gets hot.
