I watched gauge cluster blink on/off then finally off. Engine/transmission working okay. I located leaking oil pressure sensor, adjacent sensor wiring soaked in oil. Can’t find a blown fuse.
Inspection overdue!

Hi,

It sounds like you have a couple different problems. The first thing I want you to check is fuse 18 in the under hood fuse box. In addition to just checking the fuse, confirm there is power to it. Here is a link that will help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Next, in the attached pic, I highlighted the light green wires that power the back up lights. If the fuse is good, I need you to check if power is going to the lights. If there is, then check the two grounds I highlighted. You can simply check for continuity to ground via the black wires at the light socket.

If you look at pic 2 below, I highlighted two fuses. Fuse 18 is the one I mentioned above. Fuse 31 is for the instrument panel. Check both and confirm power is available.

Let me know what you find.

Okay Joe, both fuses look okay and are powered with 13V
Reverse engaged, 11V between green and chassis, nothing between green and black.

Hi,

If you are connecting your multi meter between the green and black and there is no reading, then you have no ground. That is the problem.

Just for the heck of it, take a wire and splice it into the black wire and connect it to a known ground and see if it turns on.

Let me know.

Okay, lets get them working as well. I attached the entire wiring schematic for the back up lights. I circled the fuse to check. Make sure there is power in and out. If there is, go to the rear lights and check the light green wires for power. Check both sides. Note there is a splice in the wiring, so if there is now power, we will need to check for power out at the body control module.

Do this and let me know the results.

Okay Joe, I did better checking and located wire group entering BCM, power going in, nothing coming out on green wires. Does signal come from transmission switch or column?
PS, thanks for your patience, my right arm is in a cast.

Okay, I found the connector under the brake booster, will check switch connection tomorrow. Transmission was replaced 3 years ago, switch maybe as well.

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the arm. I'm sure that doesn't make things easy to work on. Let me know what you find.
