Shut off while driving

Hi,

It sounds like it is in limp mode. Basically, if there is a problem, it is designed to continue running just enough to get you off the road to safety.

What happens when you try to accelerate? Does the engine rev and the vehicle not accelerate? Is the check engine light staying on?

I suspect, based on your description, the light is staying on. In this case, I strongly recommend scanning the computer. Here is a link showing how it is done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but some parts stores will lend one to you.

Let me know as much as you can. For example, are there any strange odors from the vehicle or smoke from the exhaust?
