I was on the high way doing about 65 and then i decided to pick up speed but the truck didn't let me. i got off the highway and made a full stop and then started to go again and made it up to about 30 and the truck wouldn't let me go any higher. i checked my oil and it has enough and only has about 2,000 miles since i changed it. it also runs in all gears just neither one passes 30 mph. could the transmission be the problem? I also recently turned my exhaust into a straight pipe and it has been misfiring like crazy. could that be it?

You should have the engine trouble codes retrieved. It might just show an engine sensor failing. If you don't have a scan tool or code reader stop in a AutoZone or Advance Auto, they usually retrieve trouble codes for free. Then post the codes in here.

Good morning,

Do you have any codes stored in the system?

I would start with basics such as plugs for the misfire.

As far as the acceleration, I would check the cat converter back pressure as they may be clogged from overheating from all the misfires.

I would also check the fuel pressure.
