This morning was real cold 25F and i went to show the car to someone interested in buying it and i found that the heat and defrost both cold air. I replaced the cam phasers on this car few months ago and all was good, didn't drive it in the winter really, it was parked and drives excellent, i noticed the top radiator hose has no real pressure like it should, feels empty, engine coolant temperature is where it should be, no leaks and doesn't overheat, when i first cranked it in the am it said check coolant, they usually do that till its warm then message went away, checked reservoir after that and it was full, and message went away, still no heat, blower works on all speeds. I noticed when i turn the car off the piece in front of the reservoir is on for a while then shuts off, not sure what it's for but its an electric piece. Any help is appreciated, no codes under the ac system except what is in the picture. I have an 2008 Mercedes Benz c350 as well if parts are needed for trial.

Hello,

I would replace the radiator cap to help with the pressure issue. Can I ask if both heater hoses are hot at the fire wall? These cars have a water pump for the heater which can go bad and the temperature blend door actuator can fail as well. here is a guide to help us see whats going on:

Please run down this guide and report back.

Yes, i wanted to see whether the heater core hoses are both hot. but can't find but one on the driver side on the back. Is the water pump for the heater core the one in front of the reservoir? If so it is working. I just replaced the cap from another car and will see if bleeding it more will make any difference.

Let see if the heater flap actuators are working here is the location in the diagrams below. There are diagrams that show how the system works and the location of the heater hose outlets and blend door actuators. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Wow they must have that system set to zero tolerance. 2 ounces is barely enough to cause anything especially a loss of heater function. However if it now works great.
