No heat

Hello,

This sounds like you could have a bad thermostat right out of the box, or you may have been sold the wrong thermostat. This wouldn't be the first or last time a thermostat was bad right out of the box. In the diagrams down below I have included the Original Equipment Manufacturer [OEM] part number and the specs for the thermostat for your vehicle. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

I checked the stat seems okay. If the stat was bad I wouldn’t heat through the radiator feed hose.when the stat opens the hose is very hot also does this engine have a heater control valve and if so where is it located thanks for any help Jim Holloran.

No it doesn't have a heater control valve. This is accomplished with the blend door operation. Another thing that you might want to look at is if there is an air pocket in your vehicle's cooling system this would keep your vehicle's coolant from circulating properly and could cause poor heater performance.

If the blend door wasn’t opening all the way would that cause the heat to be Lukewarm? I checked the thermostat seems okay. If the thermostat was bad I wouldn’t get heat in the feed hose to the radiator it’s very hot when the thermostat opens. Is there a heater control valve with this engine?thanks for any help.

I tried to flush the heater core the best I could when I take the car on the highway the temperature gauge drops to cold and the heat is very cold when I get into city traffic the temp gauge goes up 3 no he’s the heat is Luke warm do you think the thermostat is the problem I replaced the old one but still have the problem could it be defective even though it was new out of the box thanks Jim h

I would say yes. This wouldn't be the first or unfortunately the last time a part was bad right out of the box, and all the signs point to a stuck open thermostat.
