No heat

The shop is probably referring to the car's heater core. The heater core is located behind the dashboard of the car, typically on the passenger side. Your engine coolant flows through this and when you turn up the heat in the car the fan blows over the "internal radiator" and heats up the car. The issue is gunk and rust clogs the heater core over time and stops the flow of hot coolant, thus no hot air just cold air. you can have your system flushed by a service shop with a machine that uses a safe amount of pressure to flush out the gunk in the system, this is typically a $90.00 service. If this doesn't work the core would need to be replaced, this is done by removing the dash.

If that doesn't help, try this. Start the engine, turn the heater on high, and allow the engine to reach operating temp. Then, feel both heater core hoses under the hood. Both should be hot. If they are, then we should suspect an issue with a blend air door. If only one is hot, then the heater core is likely plugged.

Do that and let me know what you find. Once we determine the likely cause, we will be more likely to fix it.
