After running out of gas it only runs when pouring gas in the intake?

Yep, when you run the car out of gas the fuel pump runs dry which can cause the pump to go out, when you turn the key on without cranking the engine over you should hear the pump run in the tank for about 5 seconds. If not, I would replace the pump. here is how in the images below.
