TCM replace three weeks ago, also reprogram PCM by Ford dealer. Car has power but will not crank when warm. Drove it ten miles turned it off. No crank when I returned thirty minutes later. Let sit thirty minutes cool of time and it cranks no problem. The same trip average mpg on dash was twenty six mpg. Return trip of ten miles and average mpg jumped to thirty one mpg. Not sure if it is related. Throttle body, o2 sensor replaced 1,500 miles ago.

make sure battery is in good condition including load test most places do for free. also, make sure terminal ends are clean. then when it does it again there is a module under passenger seat tap with a screwdriver and see if it starts. if it does then it needs replacing. also a mechanic will have to scan for codes to verify. if this does not work then it will have to be scanned for codes by a mechanic. also, check starter relay under hood for corrosion on prongs if any try to clean and use dielectric grease on them.

I have cleaned the ground connection and checked the relays contacts. The ecm is not under the seat but behind the splash shield on the drivers side. I switched the relays, only time will as this is an intermittent problem. Thanks for the help, Richard

Hey RICHARD,

I have seen where the the starter motor is going bad when it gets hot it doesn't work and then when it colds down it works again, just me two cents.

Let us know what happens so ti will helps others.

Best, Ken

Thanks for the input, I have swapped relays in the fusebox with one not so important(reverse lights) and all is well so far. If no problems arise in the next week or so I will buy a new relay and install it in the starter position and put the borrowed one back in the correct place. Thanks again for the responses.
