No compression

Had the cylinder head overhauled at the engineers and they said all is okay. Fitted with new gasket and mounting bolts, first start it ran on 3 cylinders, no 2 no compression. Engine idles but cant rev or the motor will die. Left it and tried after few hours, no compression on all 4 cylinders. What could be the cause of this.

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. No compression in all four after it ran sounds like either the timing moved or the belt failed so that valves are now staying open, they are bent and not sealing or the piston rings are very worn. The easiest way to test all of these would be a leak down test. Set the engine on the compression stroke for a cylinder. Lock it at top dead center. Then use a hose to put air into that cylinder. Then you just listen to where the air leaks out. Intake manifold = intake valve. Exhaust = exhaust valve. Oil fill = rings. You will always get a small amount of leakage through the rings as they have gaps in the rings but it shouldn't be much. Repeat for each cylinder. If you start with cylinder 1 and follow the firing order the test should take about twenty minutes.
