No bus, code p3040 bank a sensor

I bought this car and drove it down the street. it shut off and my code reader said p3040 sensor bank a. so I replaced the cam shaft sensor, I also had to replace the fuse for the dash. after that it now says no bus and when I try to start it it says no bus and kind of sounds like the battery is going bad. the fuel gauge also bounces up and down. I tried to jump it but didn't start I checked the fuses and they were good.

Can you recheck the code? Do you mean P0340?

If it's a P0340, that indicates no cam signal at the PCM. Here are diagnostics for that code:

Couple things. Do I understand it correctly that the P0340 is no longer there?

We need to start with load testing the battery as if this is drained it will cause all sorts of crazy issues.

Then we need to replace it if needed then check for codes again.

The no BUS message means the PCM cannot communicate with other modules so it puts this message up.

Let me know what happens with this and we can go from there.

Changed battery no BUS went away, but still won't start. doesn't sound like the starter. it had old gas in it but l had been bleeding it from the line and I think I got it all out. it sounds like it wants to start but something isn't happening.

Do me a favor. Record it cranking so I can hear what it's doing. Also, see if it starts with starting fluid.

Hearing it will help so that is a good idea. Also, if you had old fuel, you may want to change out the plugs as old fuel will foul the plugs and cause it to not start and act like it wants to start but not catch.

Not sure what you mean. Is it trying to start as KaseKenny mentioned? Also, have you tried starting fluid?
