Got the vehicle listed above and the brake lights do not work. Switch brake light been changed and few wires where broken. I got a custom pod trailer brake system on it and aftermarket remote starter. Has I would say few wires where broken, trailer harness ground, fuel pump relay ground completely rusted. Clean it, remove rust and fix it again. Is there any kind of special procedure for the brake switch light adjustment? Because it is not supposed to have any but the switch does not have the right clearance to be properly working. The sls-510. I do not really know what to do at this point and where check out. Fuse are fine, relay too. Did cruise control can be interacting with it? Shift interlock engaged and bypassed by the shifter button.
Help here please!

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Honestly, there was a recall regarding brake light switch adjustment. According to the recall, the lights may not turn on when the pedal is pressed. It indicated that the customer was to contact the dealer so they could properly adjust the switch. (it must be adjustable, but no directions are listed in my manuals)

One other thing I know has been a somewhat common issue is the wiring. I have found that the yellow/gray wire was open between the brake pedal switch and junction box in right kick panel. After repairing the wiring in the kick panel, the brake lamps work and truck shifts from park every time. Check and make sure that is not an issue.

As far as the aforementioned recall, here it is. Take a look:

Recall 09V232000: Brake Light Switch Adjustment
Vehicle Sensors and Switches Technical Service Bulletins Recall 09V232000: Brake Light Switch Adjustment
RECALL 09V232000: BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
VEHICLE MAKE/MODEL: MODEL YEAR(S):

Lincoln/Navigator 2009

MANUFACTURER: Ford Motor Company

MFR'S REPORT DATE: June 23, 2009

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V232000

NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: N/A

COMPONENT: Service Brakes, Hydraulic: Switches: Brake Light

POTENTIAL NUMBER OF UNITS AFFECTED: 1357

SUMMARY:
Ford is recalling 1,357 M/Y 2009 Expedition and Navigator vehicles for failing to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." In situations of very mild brake application, the brake stoplamps may not illuminate.

CONSEQUENCE:
Delay or loss of brake stoplamp function may increase the risk of a crash.

REMEDY:
Dealers will adjust the brake stoplamp switch free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on or before July 6, 2009. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332 or www.ownerconnection.com.

Thank a lot Joe. I sure appreciate a lot. This was quite helpful. I had an issue with the flasher switch and the pedal light switch combine. No power was getting out from pedal switch after i change it i had some from it but nothing at the stop lamp. Kick panel fuse was under power to. Same for ecm but nothing cames out from the flasher. Flasher still work and i really think it will be ended up by doing the recall and changing that flasher switch(steering multifunction switch).

Thank again man.

Electrical wiring diagram are pretty hard to find on the web

I may have another request here?

Pedal light switch replaced, flasher multi-function switch replace and I have signal at both, one or two things are may interact with the stop lamp signal. There is a trailer brake module and a remote starter but I do not know where to start from here on and do not know what to do to.

Flasher and hazard are using the same light bulb and turn/hazard are fine. I realize that the trailer module have a connection trouble. Light on it is not working and no brake lights lit when use it. And well the remote starter module is hanging to the multi-function switch, (wiper and turn signal and high beam), and there is a lot of wire there. Well, at the moment I do not know where and what I should do with it.

Hello,

I found the brake light and turn signal wiring diagrams that show the trailer/camper tow connector. Here is a guide to help you check the wiring as well:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken
