A/C not working

It sounds like you have an electrical issue.

Did you check for voltage to the compressor?

I attached a diagram for you to view. Check the fuses listed.

Check fuses F47,F3 and F25 for power on both sides with the key on.

I will check tomorrow but I do not think it is a fuse. It worked two days ago and just stopped working in the next afternoon. Later that night I tried it and it worked perfectly. The next day it was not working again. The owner of the car is a elderly widower two doors down that I am trying to help. The compressor is not kicking in at all.

Okay, you need to start somewhere. Start with the fuses and then check the connector at the compressor. Use a test light or volt meter to check for voltage.

Okay, checked all fuses and all was good. No power was getting to compressor contact. But this mourning at 10:00 am she went to the bank and the air was working. She stopped by and sure enough the compressor was running and it was blowing cold air. She came back half an hour later and it still was working. I will check it again later today when it gets hotter out and see if it still works. We have had two weeks of hot weather and she needs the A/C to work. I do not know what would cause this to happen? I have checked all connections that I can get to. I will get back to you soon! Thanks, Ron

Roy, I went down and started it up and turned the A/C on at 12:00 noon and at 6:00 pm and it worked both times perfectly. After talking with her the only different thing that I am doing is starting the car with the A/C turned off. She claims to keep the A/C on all the time. So she is starting the car with the A/C on. I do not know if that has put a load on something and over the years has weaken something in the electrical system. She bought this car new and has been the only driver. But the day I had it at my garage I could not get it to come on no matter what I did. It is working now, I guess I will wait until she calls again.

Yep. Does not make a difference if it is started with it on or off.

Well, I know things like this do not fix themselves. I guess it must be a loose connector in this pile of wires. I know it is going to stop working in a day or so and I will be right back in the same place. Thank you for your help and your time in this matter! If this thing does it again, what would be the next step I would need to check?

Wiggle test. Grab the wire harness and see if you can get it to come on. At least that will tell you it is a wiring issue.

Roy, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I fixed the problem! It was the EVAP temperature sensor in the dash. What a job! I am getting too old for this stuff. Again thank you for your help. Ron,
