Vehicle is not able to switch into 4wd

When the buttons are pressed there is nothing .I checked fuse, plug to actuator and ground .I am going to clean ground. Possibly encoder motor or ring?

Couple questions. First, which transfer case do you have? Take a look at the attachment for the options.

Next, when you press the button does the indicator light come on? If not, the switch could be the issue or you may not have power to the switch so let's start with what system you have and the detail about what happens. Maybe a video of you pressing the button will get us on the same page quickly.

It is my father in laws truck. I will check on the transmission. When the button is pressed nothing lights up. Nothing happens. Appreciate the help.

Okay. So depending on what transfer case that is we will need to look at the switch and other electrical components. Depending on which one there could be a control module issue as well. We will wait to hear back on which one and go from there. Thanks
