2007 Nissan Xterra car door

2007 Nissan Xterra

Driver's side rear door (on 2007 Nissan Xterra) will not open from outside and child lock is engaged, therefore door will not open at all. Any way to get car door open without taking to dealership (as they mentioned it could be a costly repair)?

If the door won't open from the inside or the outside then there is no simple method to use. Even the dealership will have to literally pry the door panel off and may even damage it in order to gain access to the inside of the door. There isn't any other way. Once access to the door is achieved many times the latch itself often will have to be broken apart to get it to release. Then replacement of latch will be required.
