2000 Nissan Xterra V6 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 89000 miles

starts, runs for about 5 min. then starts to miss and small backfire until dead. won't start for acouple of hours then starts all over again. did a tune up and fuel filter change to no avail . it's getting progressively worse. check engine light is not coming on. help please.

Hi there,

Get a code read, as you can often get a fault with out a code light coming on. Also check for fuel pressure, you may have a faulty pump giving very low pressure.
