I have a 1997 Nissan extended cab 4 cyl. pickup with 5 speed manual transmission and 85k miles. In the morning, especially if it's cold, when I turn the car on the transmission is stuck (I can't shift into any gear) for a couple of minutes. Usually I need to go somewhere so as the cars warms up I can usually manage to get it into 1st so I can go. Within a few minutes while driving everything seems to go back to normal and the car runs fine. What is the problem? Thank you

Hi there,

I would say that the wrong rear oil is fitted, an incorrect viscosity oil will often bind up the transmission untill it warms up and thins out a bit, drain the transmission check for the correct viscosity oil and replace it, i feel that this will solve your cold shift problem.
