Engine Knocks only when hot.

I have a 1990 Nissan Hardbody 4cyl Manual Trans w/ 160,000 miles. You can let this truck set for a week or longer and when you start it you hear just a little noise from the top of the engine. But if you drive it every day, It makes lots of loud knocking sounds when you start it for about 5 seconds. Its worse if you kill it, wait about 5 min. and start it back. If this truck sets up for a couple of weeks without being started, It hardly makes any noise. Thats weird to me, Can you help?? PS: lucas doesn't help.

Is this a K24 engine? Do this 1st have the engine flush thoroughly and I mean thoroughly to clear the galleries. change oil and filter and see what happens it might help. BTDT on this problem a lot of times and its a wild one. However am willing to help you.If you remove the valve cover you'll know what am talking about and then we'll proceed.
