1997 Nissan Truck horn keeps going off randomly and have no

now for the problem. it sounds to me like there is a short in your horn wiring, and you should first disconnect the battery for about an hour then you can go pokeing around in there looking for the short, follow from the horn to the relay to the clockspring to the relay.

it comes when i turn the wheel and makes the horn go off. turning the steering wheel makes the noise again and the horn goes off. something is loose beneath the airbag holder and probably hits a switch for the horn. the noise is a clunking sound and even if the horn is disconnected, i still get it. disconnecting the battery for an hour makes it save to fool around disconnecting the cover on the steering wheel? i don't want to trigger the air bag. maybe the short is in there? my email address is [email protected]. charlie

the airbag should be discharged in one hour, but i still wouldnt be messing with the airbag wires, if its a clunking you will have to unplug the battery for 1 hour or more if you have hte patience then you can procede to dissasemble theassembly to find whats clunking around.

there was a counterweight in the steering wheel that had come loose because the glue holding it in place had deteriorated. then when i would turn the steering wheel and the weight would shortout the horn and make the horn go off. everything is fixed now. thanks for the help. charlie
