Can a 1993 Nissan D21 SE-V6 pickup run without the catalytic converter?

Ok, I know I'm answering my own question but a Nissan SE-V6 D21 with the VG30E motor will still run with no catalytic converter but depending on what kind of muffler you have on your MPG's will decrease. On mine I have a Cherry Bomb glass pack and I'm getting about 1 MPG less than what it is rated but it does sound better.
