Engine Mechanical problem
1986 Nissan Truck 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have just replace my heads and intake manifold on my vehicle. Now, as I am fininshing I am unsure as to if I need to get to the bottom of my timing chain, or can I set my timing from the top, I have set my marks and no where they should be. But according to the repair manual I need to take the front of the enging apart to get to the bottom of the timing chain. Is this true, or can I go on with the marks I have when I took the timing chain off?
Thank you

Engine is it the Z24 ?

Put the engine no.1 piston on compresssion stroke/TDC-line up the sprockets as you see in the repair manual then put the chain on.
