1986 Nissan Stanza

My 1986 Nissan Stanza was running regularly. I parked it while running errands but when I started her up again, I got about 2 miles down the road when all of a sudden the engine started lagging and sputtering. It was fine until I tried to give her some gas. When I'd accelerate, the engine just wouldn't catch or something for a few seconds, then she'd catch again. I topped up the oil, made sure she had plenty of fuel and the problem has only escalated. At this point, she doesn't have the guts to make it up even a small incline. When I accelerate, the car even cuts out and dies completely. She idles great but I'm at a loss. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
