Sigh, I love this car, but.....
(Probably not related, but 5 days earlier had clutch cable replaced by someone everyone thinks is a good professional mechanic) ....
98 Nissan 200 SX, 135,000 mi, 1.6L engine., standard trans.
Filled up car with gas on my birthday, drove probably 20 mi, fine. Then it started, well, bucking, kind of like what happens if you try to go into first and dont give it enough gas, that hopping/bucking thing.
Turned it off. Sat there puzzled for 10 min. Turned it on, thinking maybe I had left on emergency brake. Ran just fine for about 5 miles, and then started bucking again. Rolled off into parking space.
Asked friend who is a home mechanic to look at it. He drove it about three miles, no problem, then started bucking again. Unfortunately, he didnt turn it off immediately and now it is stuck in second. I brought it home.
I have very little money to repair it, my friend is more than willing to look at it, so I was wondering is there anything he can look at?
Obviously we would need to get it out of second gear in order to test bucking problems.
I got the gas at Walmart, could it have been bad gas in addition to other things?
I'll stop talking now, thanks. Gail
