Engine scan after check engine light came on indicated faulty oxygen sensor.Scan does not specify which sensor is bad so i replaced both sensors with aftermarket brand name sensors. After clearing code , code came back. I was told only original equipment oxygen sensors will work on this car because the wire splice prevents proper operation. Do I now have to buy Nissan oxygen sensors? The wire color codes are correct as per instructions and the splices are good.

Hi cosimo292,

Thank you for the donation.

The trouble code should indicate which sensor is faulty.

Quite often after market O2 sensors do not work well. It could be the after market O2 sensors are faulty even before installation.

What are the trouble codes? Did you check/test if it is a wiring or a sensor issue?

DTC P0420 is a fault with the catalytic or other ignition components and not the O2 sensors. Here is a chart for the possible causes.
