Interior problem
2001 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have to crawl out of the passenger door because my door handle doesnt work...the weird part is that the outside door handle does. what could be causing this to fail?

Thanks

Hi stangsoccer90. Welcome to the forum. Both handles have a metal linkage going to the latch assembly. The linkage for the inside handle is disconnected or the handle is made of plastic and is broken. You'll have to remove the interior trim panel from the door to inspect the linkage.

Go slow when removing the trim panel. I'm not familiar with every specific car, but some panels just pop off with plastic clips that poke into a hole, some use screws that are always hidden, possibly under a plastic trim piece that must be popped off, and some panels use fingers that break off easily if you pry on them too hard. Those panels have a few screws, then you lift them up. You might want to visit a salvage yard where you can pick your own parts and experiment on their car before damaging yours. It can sometimes be hard to tell how hard to pull on a panel. Some clips just come off hard, and pulling just as hard on fingers can break them. You can also try to carefully peek behind a lower corner to see if you can tell how it's attached. It is darn inconvenient to break those fingers because the panel won't stay attached properly after that.
