I just replaced the radiator and can't seem to get all of the air out of the system. I tried opening the air relief screw. I also ran the heater and the heat runs hot for a while then turns cool and the engine begins to run hot. I loosened one of the heater core hoses and got some of the air out.
The heat ran hot for a while again but eventually turned cool and then the engine temperature began to rise again. While the heat runs hot the engine temperature stays within the normal range.

I can't seem to get all of the air out to allow the cooling system to work properly

Hi there,

Back fill the engine with water at the heater hose, ensure that the thermostat has a bleed valve and if not you can drill a small hole in the flange 1/16" is plenty or get a thermostat with a bleed valve, try this.
