removal of starter

REMOVAL


1. Remove battery negative cable from battery.
2. Remove intake air duct.
3. Remove starter motor mounting bolts.
4. Remove battery cable from starter motor.
5. Disconnect harness connector from starter motor harness.
6. Remove starter motor:
- from transaxle side [GA engine (M/T)].
- from engine side [GA engine (A/T)].

INSTALLATION
Installation procedure is basically the reverse order of removal.

Torque: 31 - 42 N-m (3.3 - 4.3 kg-m, 23 - 31ft-lb)

Not -remove battery connection, locate starter, remove wires, remove mounting bolts, reverse order....

Bolt on driver's side on top- I removed the battery and moved the air intake and can reach it with an extension.

Everything on the opposite side is surrounded by exhaust manifold on top, engine block in front, transmission below, and an angled metal shield (upside-down V) behind. Even if I can remove the bolt and wire nuts a path out and back in does not exist (especially through the bottom as recommended).

Any ideas?

I thas to come out of bottom of car not top. if a shield is in the way remove that

Help! Trying to replace the starter on a 1997 Nissan Sentra. Have removed both bolts and the starter will not budge. I have hit it, cursed at it, prayed to it and cried like a little baby and the starter will not budge.

Any suggestions.

Lol You forgot to spit at it, apply the elbow grease and hook on the skyhooks and yank the heck out of it-but 1st try to turn the crankshaft over by hand. If all else fails put the C4 on it move out real quickly like what am doing on the top left corner.

Continue to be stubborn get in between the starter housing and engine use chisel and make a big bang.

1993 Nissan Sentra starter removal, I can get to one of the mounting bolts on the starter, but the one between the starter motor and engine block
seems impossible to reach. Any suggestions?

Extension with a wobble socket or wobble adapter with a magnetic socket to hold the bolt in place.

The easy way is to remove the airflow meter go thru there instead from the bottom been there with that other bolt-
