Our '92 Sentra SE-R has a strong odor of gasoline in the interior and also around the vehicle. It usually becomes stronger after starting the engine, and it takes about a day to go away after stopping the engine. When we park after a short trip we can smell it outside the car too. We never see any fuel dripping onto the ground.
We brought it into a repair shop and they haven't found the leak yet. But there are a couple of things I just don't understand. They are including the EGR system in the list of possible suspects (I don't know why they wouldn't suspect the injectors and their supply lines first), and they want to charge almost $600 just to lift off the intake manifold for investigation. does it sound like they're on the right track?
