I have a 1990 pathfinder, 3.0L V6. 370,000kms. The engine cranks but it will not fire. I removed the inspection panel in the back to access the fuel pump and found 2 of the 4 wires (besides ground) were corroded and falling off. One is yellow/blue, the other is white/purple. I cleaned the terminals and repaired the connections. The terminals seem to be loose though, especially the one for the yellow/blue wire. The truck started after I did this and seemed to be running well but after driving for about 20 minutes in the rain and then turning it off it would not start again. Is it possible that water got in through the loose terminal and fried my fuel pump? Or is there something else I should be checking? I can't actually hear the pump kicking in, but I do smell gas when I crank it over. I have about 11volts at the yellow/blue terminal when the ignition is in run, but nothing at the white/purple one. When I crank the engine I get about 8volts at the white/purple one. I guess I just want to know if there is anything else I should check before I shell out $250 for a new fuel pump. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It might be grounded. Recheck your wiring but before that you have to remove your tank and nissan fuel pump. Then you may reassemble to recheck the whole wiring.
