The water pump was leaking anti-freeze. Changed out water pump and after getting the car back together, it wouldn' start at all. Took off belts, hoses, timing belt cover and belt. decided to replace timing belt an all other belts and hoses while into re-assembly. Car now starts but doesn't stay running. It starts strong, seems to run fine but is in "warm-up" mode, (high idle), and as soon as it gets up to the height of the high idle, it quits completely. It will re-start but does the same thing every time, quitting. Is this a timing issue? We have set the timing marks during re-assembly to match the belt, pulleys, and block marks. Or is there another issue such as the vaccuum system? I am sure no anti-freeze was leaked into other parts of the engine. The spark plugs have not been changed in a long while, is this even a possible cause? Any help would be appreciated. Also, we tried adjustment to the distributor without any results. Thanks so much for your time and expertise.
After thinking a donation, however small, would be the right thing to do for free advice, I called long distance 23+ hours after checking repeatedly for any answer/s. The gent I spoke to was very understanding and said he's find out what gives and get the question answered "promptly". I'm writing now 25.5 hours after posting my question while I await the tow truck to take my car to the garage to be fixed there. Nobody is at fault for that and I'm not blaming anyone BUT...Wouldn't it be nice if the messages and posts we send out were answered the way we have every reason to expect because of the guidelines set forth by the recievers of our messages? Your word is not backed up by your actions in this case. I felt at $5.00 I wasn't at much risk and even wondered if that's a bit stingy. How do you think I'm feeling about using your services again and donating to what I thought was a worthy cause? You figure out the answer and you'll have earned the 5 bucks.
No, I wouldn't like to add a smiley face. :(
