Since moving to Colorado my pathfinder looses power when going up steep inclines (on highways going up to the mountains). I don't notice a drastic loss of power in the city, on level terrain. The problem only seems to occur when going up steep inclines.

When going up steep inclines, I am only capable of reaching 40-45 mph at the best. In addition, it seems like the pathfinder is having trouble finding the right gear. It well rev very high, then downshift, then upshift, without any change to pushing the accelerator. It seems like the car is working very hard to maintain its speed.

After researching the problem, my first guess at the problem is fuel filter, oxygen sensor, MAF sensor, or possible compression problem. I know that is wide range of possible problems. Can you please help me narrow it down?
