My Nissan is shooting out powerful fuel vapors?

I have a 1986 Nissan Stanza Wagon with over 400,000 miles ..four wheel drive...2.0.
We changed the starter and NOW it is missing and shoots out fuel vapors like you wouldn't believe.

It is in perfect condition otherwise (garage kept)....so don't say junk it. Any ideas?

where is the fuel coming from??.....describe its location!

1986 Nissan Stanza 4 wheel drive wagon 2.0 and fuel vapors are coming out of the exhaust pipe and it is missing and it is very POWERFUL.
